El Diari de la Diba announces the integration of the Green Waste Recycling Station of l’Ametlla del Vallès into the Smart Region Platform

On Wednesday, January 8, the Barcelona Provincial Council published in its newspapers the article Project to integrate a green waste recycling station into the Smart Region platform, in l’Ametlla del Vallès, explaining that the data collected from the station will be used by the platform with the aim of analyzing and improving processes. Our company, specialized in waste management and the development of sustainable solutions, is proud to have closely collaborated with the City Council of l’Ametlla del Vallès and the Barcelona Provincial Council in the integration of the green waste recycling station into the Smart Region platform. This initiative represents a decisive step towards a more efficient and intelligent management of the municipality’s green waste. The main objective of the project has been to digitize and optimize the management of the recycling station through real-time data collection and analysis. Thanks to collaboration with municipal technicians, we have been able to define a consensus-based data ontology that facilitates the integration of the information generated by the station into the Smart Region platform. This allows us to gain greater visibility into the volume of waste managed, user profiles, and the environmental impact of the implemented actions. One of the most innovative elements of the project is the dashboard designed to analyze the collected data. This tool allows us to monitor key aspects such as:
    • The location of the recycling station.
    • The volume of waste contributed daily and monthly.
    • The product generated from the waste.
    • The number of users utilizing the facilities, along with their profiles and origins.
This data provides an essential tool for decision-making by the technical and political teams of the city council, enabling more precise strategies tailored to the real needs of the municipality. The Smart Region platform allows us to integrate data from different sources, combining information obtained from distributed sensors with other environmental and urban indicators. This offers us a global and interconnected view of the region’s reality, facilitating more sustainable and efficient management. This project is part of the Service Catalog of the Barcelona Provincial Council, which provides technical assistance to implement smart city solutions in municipalities such as l’Ametlla del Vallès. The initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 9, “Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure”, and Goal 16, “Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.” Our company is committed to continuing to work on providing innovative solutions that contribute to sustainability and efficiency in waste management, helping municipalities transition towards a greener and more digital future.
